Constructive Feedback Friday

Today at I Heart Faces, they are doing Constructive Feedback Friday. Here is the photograph that I want feedback on.

I took this at a wedding that I shot for a friend a few weeks ago, and any input would be great!

Very solemn. They don't look very happy...but maybe that means they take it seriously. Great composition, though!

Thanks Steph!

I'm not really understanding the photo. :( I may be a little harsh here, don't hate me.

Are you wanting to be a wedding photographer? Were you the photographer for this wedding? Or is this just a snapshot? I'm not sure what it is. Obviously it is a wedding, I'm not a moron, LOL, but I'm just confused I think.

Maybe I can redeem myself here and explain what I mean...

They are obviously looking at something, if you had turned the camera vertical instead of horizontal, we would naturally follow their gaze to see what they are looking at. In this photo, we can't, it's awkward compositionally. (My spell check says that's not a word. LOL) It's just an odd looking crop to me: too much space at the top and not enough on the bottom.

To me, it just says snapshot at a wedding of your cousin Bobby from over the weekend. It doesn't say professional photographer.

(UGH, I know that was harsh, and I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings. :( But, this is what made ME a better photographer: an honest person telling me what I need to do to become BETTER. And it is only one imperfect lady's opinion.)

First of all, I don't hate you!!

I am an amature photographer, and yes, I was the photographer for this wedding. I do not want to be a wedding photographer, though. I did this as a favor to a friend, who has since screwed me over.

The shot was taken right as the preacher was asking everyone to bow their heads in prayer.

There wasn't really a good place to stand during this wedding, I'm actually balanced on a very small wall behind the gisibo, which was on a four foot drop. The gisibo would have been in the shot if I would have gone any lower.

I have not edited this picture in any way, as of yet.

Again, though, I do not hate you in any way!! I am just looking to become a better photographer, and take harsh very well!

Jen : ) You are so nice to have done this wedding for them. Seriously! I mean, weddings are SO MUCH WORK! Let me just say, I think that wedding photographers earn EVERY SINGLE PENNY they charge : ). I am sorry you had a bad experience with them. That makes me so sad. I hate mean people!

I am going to go and look at some of your other work. I can tell you are passionate about photography. I love that. Passion means a lot! : )

Oh I'm so glad you don't hate me! LOL

Well in that case.....since she has screwed you over....I'd make her about 50 pounds heavier. ;)

HAHAHAHAHAHA :D
